About Applied Behavior Analysis
Applied Behavior Analysis is the application of specific principles of
behavior to the settings we live in every day. It is the manipulation of environmental
ariables to improve socially significant behavior. Behavior analysis allows us to teach
skills including language, reading, mathematics, activities of daily living, play skills
and social skills. It also enables us to discover the functional relationships involved
with negative behaviors and thus decrease those behaviors.
Assessment
Hudson Valley Behavioral Solutions uses the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS) to discover the strengths and challenges of each learner. The ABLLS is very comprehensive covering 25 domains from Cooperation to Reading to Dressing to Play. Skills that are acquired and skills that are not yet in the learner’s repertoire are carefully tracked for inclusion in the learner’s ABA program.
Program Development
After assessment has been completed, our staff will compile the acquired skills and the concepts to be learned into a comprehensive program aimed at meeting the needs of the learner. Programs are constructed to be face-paced and maintain skills as they target specific new behaviors at the same time.
Center-based Instruction
Our location offers its classroom for learners to come anywhere from once to three times per week to take advantage of the combination of a motivating, reinforcing learning environment and our expert teaching staff. This offers the most control over the learner’s progress as it ensures consistency and precise implementation.
Program Supervision
For our families that have home programs in place, we offer our services to supervise the implementation of home services. Our expert staff can review your program and ensure that goals are appropriate and programs are effective.
